Bodies of coronavirus victims should be cremated irrespective of religion, says BMC

Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Commissioner Praveen Pardeshi has said that the bodies of coronavirus victims should be cremated irrespective of their religion to avoid chances of transmission and claimed that burial of the bodies will not be allowed. He further added that the funeral should not involve more than five people and also warned that the rituals involving touching the body should be avoided. Src:

Thieves steal INR 3 lakh while family was in quarantine centre

In Bandipora district of Kashmir, a group of burglars broke into the house of a Covid-19 patient. The incident took place when the house was empty as all family members were lodged at a quarantine centre. According to reports, the thieves managed to enter the house even as concertina wire was put around the house by the police to prevent access to locals. Src:

Govt to SC, ‘Migration has to be stopped’ amid COVID-19 scare

The central government recently told the Supreme Court that the exodus of migrant workers from the cities to their hometowns will have to be stopped to ensure that it does not aggravate the threat posed by the coronavirus disease. The petition filed by advocates Rashmi Bansal and Anuj Gupta cited the possibility that many of the migrant workers may have been infected by the virus and became carriers of the disease. The court till now has not pass any order but allowed the central government to file a status report on the issue. Src:
