Centre approves Rs 4,432 Cr additional assistance to Odisha, Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh

A high-level committee (HLC) chaired by Home Minister Amit Shah has approved additional central assistance of Rs 4,432.10 Cr to Karnataka, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) for natural calamities faced by them. An official release stated, "The HLC approved additional central assistance of Rs 3,338.22 Cr to Odisha for Cyclone Fani, Rs 1,029.39 Cr to Karnataka for drought and Rs 64.49 Cr to Himachal Pradesh for avalanches and hailstorm". Former MPs asked to vacate govt accommodations within 7 days

Chairman of the Housing Committee, Chandrakant Patil on said all the former Members of Parliament (MPs) have been asked to vacate their government accommodations in Delhi within seven days and officers have been asked to stop power and water supply to these accommodations within three days. According to the rules, ex-MPs have to vacate their respective bungalows within one month if they are not re-elected but almost three months after the dissolution of the 16th Lok Sabha at least 50-60 MPs are yet to vacate their houses. Retirement age for all paramilitary personnel fixed at 60: MHA

Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday said all Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) personnel will now retire at a fixed age of 60 years, irrespective of their rank. Currently, the retirement age of officers of the rank of the commandant and below in CAPFs and paramilitary forces is fixed at 57 years while officers of the rank of Deputy Inspector General and above retire on attaining the age of 60. MHA called the current policy "discriminatory and unconstitutional" and that it created two classes in the uniformed forces. The order will be implemented with immediate effect. Gujarat: A world class zoo to be made near Statue of Unity

A senior official of the Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited said a world-class zoo will come up near the Statue of Unity in Gujarat's Narmada district before the end of October next year. In order to make Kevadiya, where the statue is situated a major tourist attraction government is planning to develop a zoo as well as river rafting facilities. The zoo will be developed across 1,300 acres and the Central Zoo Authority had given approval to the plan.
