Asian Development Bank to provide INR 16,700 crore assistance for India to fight COVID-19

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has assured USD 2.2 billion (over ₹16,700 crore) assistance for India to fight coronavirus. President Masatsugu Asakawa said, "ADB is committed to supporting India's emergency needs. We are now preparing USD 2.2 billion in immediate assistance to the health sector and to help alleviate the economic impact of the pandemic on the poor; informal workers; micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises; and the financial sector.” Earlier, World Bank had approved USD 1 billion in emergency funds for India to fight the outbreak. No new emoji updates will be released in 2021 due to COVID-19 pandemic

The Unicode Consortium, the group behind emoji releases, has announced that due to Coronavirus pandemic, it's delaying the release planned for 2021 by six months. This essentially means the emoji version will likely be rolled out in 2022. However, the emoji that were announced earlier this year, including the transgender flag and Italian hand gesture, will be made available soon. PM Modi likely to address Nation to announce whether lockdown ends on April 14

According to reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to address the nation on whether the 21-days lockdown will extend or not. Before the decision, he will meet with Chief Ministers via video conference tomorrow. As per media reports, the lockdown may be extended but with many changes this time around. Invoke Essential Commodities Act to ensure uninterrupted supply: Centre to states

In an official statement, Ministry of Home Affairs on Tuesday directed the state governments to invoke the Essential Commodities Act, 1955 to ensure supplies of essential commodities during the lockdown. The Centre warned that the offences committed under the EC Act will be criminal offences. It further warned that the offences may result in imprisonment of 7 years or fine or both.
