Strict action against people involved in peddling fake news in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Govt have said that some people were peddling fake news about Anantnag Deputy Commissioner Khalid Jehangir on social media and directed the police to arrest the miscreants. Department of Information and Public Relations stated, "Fake news is being spread in name of DC Anantnag Khalid Jehangir on social media. The fake news is the work of some criminal elements. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has referred the matter to Cyber Crime investigation team with directions to arrest miscreants involved". Restrictions lifted in Jammu, to continue in some places of Kashmir: Police

A senior police officer said government-imposed restrictions in Jammu have been completely removed, while they will continue in parts of Kashmir for some time and further added that the situation in Jammu and Kashmir is under control and that there have been no major injuries to anyone. The administration said that the restrictions were imposed after the central government abrogated Article 370 and would be lifted in a phased manner. Src: https://bit.ly/2MgIVCw

NIT Srinagar suspends classes, students evacuated over security reasons

After Jammu and Kashmir Government issued a security advisory for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, today, non-local students from National Institute of Technology Srinagar (NIT) have been evacuated. The NIT administration in its notice stated that the classwork in the institute stands suspended till further orders. The notice further said, "The above notice stands issued as per direction got from the district administration, Srinagar". An NIT official stated that the administration has been asked to send students to their home. "The buses were arranged by the administration. We don't know why this decision has been taken". Jammu and Kashmir: Amarnath Yatra curtailed, Machail Yatra also suspended

After Jammu and Kashmir Government issued a security advisory for Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, around 5,000 tourists in the region have been drawn out of tourist resorts and hotels overnight and carried to Jammu safely within hours. Presently, the Machail Yatra (pilgrimage) to the Goddess Durga shrine has also been suspended and security has been tightened in the state's Kishtwar region. In Kashmir, no tourists are presently lodged at any hotels or houseboat. All current and impending bookings for incoming tourists have also been cancelled.
