"2 Toilets for 400?": Mamata Banerjee blasts minister during slum visit

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee on her way to an administrative meeting, stopped by a slum in Howrah, along with Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Firhad Hakim. Banerjee strolled into grimy homes and interacted with residents related to the issues they faced. Banerjee yelled at Hakim and said, “2 bathrooms for 400 people. Can you imagine? What if that was the situation at your home? If there is a provision, why can’t we provide? The civic body is under an administrator. Please start your work immediately.” This came after when Banerjee discovered that there were just 2 toilets for 400 people living at the No. 2 Round Tank Puranabasti in Ward 29.
