Kerala: CM Pinarayi Vijayan Demands Strict Action as Opposition Takes on Kerala Govt over Custodial Death

The custodial death of a 49-year-old man in Kerala’s Idukki is a source of embarrassment for the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government. Rajkumar, accused in a money-laundering case, died in police custody last week. The autopsy, however, revealed torture as four ribs were fractured and serious injuries were detected on his feet. He died within four days of being detained in the Peermedu sub-jail. CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that strict action will be taken but an angry opposition staged a walkout. Four police personnel were suspended and the opposition is demanding a judicial probe. Src-https://bit.ly/2XeRcbi

LDF government will not change its stand on Sabarimala: Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said his government does not intend to change its stand and would continue to protect women's rights. As the opposition Congress-led UDF sought to taunt him in the state assembly over the LDF's poor showing, a visibly annoyed Vijayan said if opposing communalism was seen as arrogance on his part, he will continue it. The Congress leader said, "The Left had to face a massive defeat. Even Yechury offered to resign. For Yechury there is no need to express the moral responsibility that our CM does not have. Even after the defeat, the CM has been behaving as nothing has happened...The Congress' thumping win was also the victory of secularism".
