Kolkata: Locals beat up the constable for arresting drunken men

A group of locals has recently stormed into a Tollygunge police station and assaulted the police officer, who had arrested 3 men for drinking in public. It became a major embarrassment for the administration department after the video of some men and women repeatedly slapping and heckling the man went online. Earlier from the same area, a policeman was hiding under the table when a local Trinamool Congress leader was detained by the police. This video too was a slap on the police department’s face. Govt 'diluting' RTI Act to help corrupt people steal: Rahul Gandhi

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi alleged that the government is 'diluting' the Right to Information (RTI) Act to 'help the corrupt steal from India'. Gandhi on his Twitter handle wrote, "Strange that the normally vociferous anti-corruption crowd has suddenly disappeared". Rahul Gandhi's statement came after UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi alleged that the Modi government is "hell-bent on completely subverting" the RTI Act and wants to "destroy" the independence of the Central Information Commission.
