Rs 11 crore has been imposed by RBI on seven PSBs for violating norms

The Reserve Bank of India said it has imposed a collective penalty of Rs 11 crore on seven public sector banks(PSBs) for violating norms on current account opening and operating. The penalties have been imposed by the central bank under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. Allahabad Bank and Bank of Maharashtra have been imposed a fine of Rs 2 crore each, Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Indian Overseas Bank and United Bank of India have been slapped with fines of Rs 1.5 crore each, while Oriental Bank of Commerce has been imposed with a penalty of Rs 1 crore. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee declares Rural Bengal Open Defecation Free

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has declared rural West Bengal as open defecation free (ODF) and said around 1.35 crore households in rural Bengal have been covered by the "Mission Nirmal Bangla", which aimed at making all villages open defecation free (ODF) by October 2. Mamata Banerjee on Friday tweeted, " Government of India has confirmed our achievement which was our mission towards cleaner and greener environment and safe living" and further added that their next focus would be on solid waste management. Kolkata: 14,000 Yaba tablets seized, 2 arrested

In West Bengal's Kolkata city, two persons have been arrested in an anti-narcotic drive led by Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police. According to the police, the team had seized seven packets (consisting of 14,000 tablets, weight around 1.50 kg) of Amphetamine, commonly known as 'Yaba' in South Port police station. According to the police, the accused have been identified as Mohammad Ismail Hossain (43), a Bangladeshi national and Kariful Sheikh (36) a resident of Malda. The police have registered a case against the accused under the Narcotic Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. YABA is a narcotic drug which is a combination of Methamphetamine and Caffeine which is banned in India. Src: https://bit.ly/2LY8aJD

Unnao rape accused expelled BJP legislator Kuldeep Singh Sengar's arms licences canceled

The District Magistrate of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh has ordered the cancellation of the license of arms and weapons owned by the rape case accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who has been expelled from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
