Strict action against people involved in peddling fake news in J&K

Jammu and Kashmir Govt have said that some people were peddling fake news about Anantnag Deputy Commissioner Khalid Jehangir on social media and directed the police to arrest the miscreants. Department of Information and Public Relations stated, "Fake news is being spread in name of DC Anantnag Khalid Jehangir on social media. The fake news is the work of some criminal elements. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir has referred the matter to Cyber Crime investigation team with directions to arrest miscreants involved". Rajasthan court acquits all six accused in 2017 Pehlu Khan mob lynching case

In Rajashthan's Alwar City, a local court has acquitted all six accused in the Pehlu Khan lynching case. District judge Sarita Swami articulated the decision. Swami said that she was acquitting all six accused giving them 'benefit of doubt' in the case. On August 7, the arguments were completed in this case and the verdict was reserved for today. On April 1, 2017, Pehlu Khan and his two sons were beaten up by a mob while transporting cows. Pehlu Khan died to his injuries two days later in the hospital. Src: https://bit.ly/31NoYqT

Uttar Pradesh Govt to release 73 prisoners as Independence Gesture

Tomorrow, on the occasion of Independence Day, the Uttar Pradesh Govt has decided to release 73 prisoners from various district jails. A direction to this effect was given by CM Yogi Adityanath. The media reports said that the prisoners have finished their jail term, but were not able to pay penalties imposed on them. Uttar Pradesh: Police ban namaz on roads across the state

In Uttar Pradesh, the police have imposed a complete ban on offering namaz on roads however, a senior police officer stated that during special occasion large crowd gathering for offering prayers on festivals would be allowed by the district administration, but this practice will not be allowed as a routine during every Friday prayer. He further said that the official have been asked to hold a meeting with mosque administrations to sensitise them on how namaz on roads interrupted smooth traffic flow and caused other problems. Singh added that other religious communities would also not be allowed to hold similar gatherings on roads if it interrupted the traffic flow or caused inconvenience to others.
