Rajasthan: Govt forms 3-member SIT to probe police investigation in Pehlu Khan case

The Rajasthan government said it will re-examine the Pehlu Khan case, in which a district court acquitted the six men accused of thrashing the dairy farmer on suspicion of cattle smuggling two years ago. The state government is setting up a three-member Special Investigation Team that will look at police lapses in the investigation. The team has been asked to submit its report within 15 days. The Rajasthan government has decided to challenge the Alwar court's verdict which had pointed out several loopholes in the investigation and took notice of the fact that no evidence was found against the accused according to Pehlu Khan's statement.
