Rumours on extension of lockdown is baseless: Centre

The Cabinet Secretary today briefed that rumours of extending 21 days lockdown amid coronavirus is false. There were reports by various media houses that 21 days lockdown is to check on the speed of the spread, and it is likely to be extended by govt. But Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba denied such reports this morning. "I'm surprised to see such reports, there is no such plan of extending the lockdown," he said. Gujarat govt will release over 1,200 prisoners for 2 months

The Gujarat Government has announced that they will release around 1,200 prisoners for 2 months on parole because of the novel Coronavirus outbreak. An official has asked to prepared a list of prisoners who could be released for two months. He said they will be granted parole and interim bail with the help of judges of local courts. Coronavirus cases in India cross 1,000, death toll rises to 27

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has reported that the number of Coronavirus cases in India has risen to 1,024. Meanwhile, the death toll due to Coronavirus has surged to 27 in the country.
