50-year-old mother travels 1,400 kms to bring back stranded son in Andhra Pradesh

50-year-old Razia Begum, teacher by profession travelled 700 km on scooty from Telangana’s Nizamabad district to Nellore, Andhra Pradesh to bring back her 17-year-old son who was stranded there due to the Covid-19 lockdown. It took her three days to cover the total distance. Don't mention Markaz in bulletins: Delhi Minorities Commission to Health Department

Delhi Minorities Commission (DMC) Chairman Zafarul-Islam Khan wrote to the Delhi Health Department asking to stop naming Nizamuddin Markaz and drop any mention of "religious undertones" in its daily bulletins on coronavirus cases. In the letter, Khan said, "Such thoughtless classification is feeding into the Islamophobia agenda of the media and has been turned into a handle to attack Muslims.” The daily bulletins update the number of fresh coronavirus cases and deaths including figures of those who were evacuated from Tablighi Jamaat Markaz after they were stranded there due to the lockdown. Odisha extends lockdown in the state till April 30, 1st state to declare

Today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced that the government has extended the lockdown till April 30. It has become the first state to do so as the number of patients infected by the novel coronavirus continue to rise across the country. Patnaik asked the Centre not to start train and air services till the lockdown is uplift. Patnaik said “Coronavirus is the biggest threat that the human race has faced in more than a century. Two doctors of Safdarjung hospital heckled in market place in Delhi

The two women doctors of the state-run Safdarjung Hospital in south Delhi were assaulted yesterday evening while buying groceries. According to media reports, the doctors went to a market in nearby place where they live, and suddenly they were confronted by a man, who heckled them for coming out of their house. He further told them that they could risk the lives of others, by spreading coronavirus which has killed 149 and infected over 5,000 in India. Later the woman doctors filed a complaint.
