India's GDP growth could fall to 1.6% this fiscal: Goldman Sachs

As per the forecast by Goldman Sachs, India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth could fall to 1.6% in 2020-21 compared to its previous estimate of 3.3%. In its report Goldman said that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought "an unprecedented sudden stop" to activity in India. West Bengal govt to allow home delivery of liquor during lockdown

According to sources, the Mamata Banerjee-led West Bengal government has decided to allow home delivery of liquor during the lockdown period in the state. Sources further reported that in the Excise Directorate of West Bengal government, there is no prohibition on sale of liquor during the lockdown. However, most liquor shops have remained shut due to the lockdown and will continue to remain shut, they say. Sources said only backend supply can be resumed via home delivery. SC orders govt to ensure Coronavirus tests are free in govt and private lab

Today, the Supreme Court has ordered that the government must ensure coronavirus tests are free in both state-run and private diagnostic labs. The tests in Government lab are already free but private labs cannot be allowed to charge up to INR 4,500 for the test. The top court said the private hospitals including laboratories have an important role to play in containing the scale of a pandemic by extending philanthropic services in the hour of national crisis. There won't be any lack of hydroxychloroquine in India today or in future, assures Govt

While responding to a question regarding availability of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) in India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare's Joint Secretary Lav Agarwal said, "It is ensured that not only today but even in future there will not be any lack of HCQ as and when needed."
